About the Course
This comprehensive workshop equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to understand, design, implement, manage, and evaluate effective social protection policies and programmes. It explores how social protection systems can reduce poverty and vulnerability, strengthen livelihoods, improve resilience to shocks, and promote inclusive socioeconomic development.Participants will examine key social protection instruments, including social assistance, social insurance, labour market interventions, social protection floors, cash transfer programmes, pensions, and shock-responsive social protection. The workshop also addresses policy design, targeting, financing, institutional coordination, programme delivery, monitoring and evaluation, and the use of data and evidence in social protection decision-making. These areas align with contemporary capacity-building approaches that emphasize policy design, financing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, gender sensitivity, and shock responsiveness.Through case studies, group exercises, policy simulations, and practical scenarios, participants will learn how to assess social protection needs, design appropriate interventions, strengthen programme implementation, improve beneficiary targeting and service delivery, and develop sustainable and inclusive social protection systems.
