Gain knowledge of practical techniques for restoring and managing ecosystems for adaptation. Understand approaches for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of EbA projects. Explore policy and financial frameworks that support the implementation of Ecosystem-based Adaptation. Learn strategies for engaging communities and stakeholders in EbA initiatives.
About the Course

The course introduces the principles of Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA), Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), ecosystem restoration, climate risk management, and resilience planning. Participants will explore how healthy forests, wetlands, mangroves, grasslands, coastal ecosystems, watersheds, agricultural landscapes, and urban green spaces can reduce climate-related risks while delivering environmental, social, and economic benefits.Through case studies, practical exercises, scenario analysis, and group activities, participants will develop skills in EbA planning, stakeholder engagement, project design, monitoring and evaluation, risk assessment, financing, and implementation. The course also examines how to evaluate the environmental, social, and economic benefits of nature-based adaptation interventions.

The training emphasizes approaches that strengthen both ecosystem health and human resilience, while considering local knowledge, community participation, gender and social inclusion, long-term sustainability, and climate justice. Participants will leave with practical tools for designing and implementing nature-based adaptation initiatives that contribute to resilient communities and sustainable development.
