About the Course
Volcanic Risk Management, Emergency Preparedness and Contingency Planning is a specialized training course designed to equip disaster management professionals, emergency responders, government officials, and community resilience practitioners with the knowledge and practical tools required to assess volcanic hazards, strengthen preparedness, coordinate emergency response, and develop effective contingency plans. The programme emphasizes volcanic risk assessment, hazard monitoring, early-warning systems, emergency communication, evacuation planning, critical infrastructure protection, resource management, interagency coordination, business continuity, and post-eruption recovery. Participants will also examine contingency planning for cascading impacts and prolonged disruption.Through case studies, scenario-based exercises, evacuation planning activities, and emergency simulations, participants will develop practical capabilities to anticipate volcanic emergencies, establish clear response priorities, protect vulnerable populations, coordinate resources, and strengthen institutional and community resilience.
